Blue skies overhead and green field beneath, the boy sat on the windmill’s roof, bathing in the light of the midday sun. That celestial body’s unrelenting assault had tanned his muscular arms to a light brown, but it had never burnt him. His skin seemed too tough for burning.

His parents didn’t like him going up on top of the windmill.

“It’s not like I’m going to fall,” he’d protest, but they worried anyway.

They didn’t understand how much he needed this place. Sometimes he just needed to be alone. He needed solitude and the endless sky.

His mother’s voice rang out over the fields. He heard it as though she were right by his ear.

With a sigh, the young boy leapt from the windmill. The ground shook as he landed feet-fist. Nobody saw him as he raced home through the field, faster than a speeding bullet.

Nice imagery. I like that this boy with powers, still needs a place for quiet. I can relate to that.
