Three Line Tales – When Life Doesn’t Give You Lemons

Grasping fingers, stained with dirt and ash and filth, wrap around a lemon’s rough skin. She grabs it and runs, melting into the crowd, just another dirty face in ragged clothes. They’ll never notice one missing, she tells herself, and she needs to eat.

This is for Three Line Tales. Thanks to Sonya for running the challenge and to Erol Ahmed for providing the prompt image.

      1. I find myself wondering if she was born into poverty or if she ran away from home for some reason. The way she decides that she has to eat, a thought that might not be one of resignation in the face of hunger, like a person born into poverty would have, I think she might have a rather sad back story indeed.
