Winter had fallen across the city, bringing white snow that tried its very best to make everything grind to a halt. It piled up on the roads and on the pavement, two inches of cold, crunching white. Already people were trying to clear it away, sweeping the streets clean.

She had always liked the snow and the winter air. It had a strange smell to it, a cold, beautiful aroma that only came with cold winter mornings. She walked the streets, just taking it in.

When she came to the bench, she sat, looking across the rippling, dark waters of the bay. Skyscrapers gleamed: fantastic towers of shimmering glass. The city noises were softened by the morning, more background music than full-blown orchestra.

As she took a sip of hot chocolate, the rich flavor running over her tongue, she couldn’t think of a better way to spend the morning.

I agree with your charscter. On nice winter mornings it is nice to go out and walk, all bundled up and enjoy a hot chocolate. The cold air with snow does have a unique smell. I think very fresh. Beautiful piece.
