“There’s more than one way to get you to talk,” the black-suited man muttered ominously as he pulled open the drawer and began rummaging. After a moment of cacophonous sifting, he produced a wrench and held it up to glisten in the flickering fluorescent light.

“You tell me what she’s planning for my birthday,” he said, “and I’ll fix that leaky faucet for you.”
