Mornings were always Neil’s favorite times, when the sun’s golden-red rays danced across sand and along the wine-dark waves.

He wandered by the side of the sea, the gentle sound of the waves forming a pleasant melody.

That was when he saw her, standing by the water’s edge.

She was beautiful: eyes like glistening stars, skin like glowing moon, hair like spun gold.

Her gaze fell upon Neil and she smiled at him. In a moment, he fell in love.

Then a wind swept in from the east, throwing up clouds of golden sand. Neil raised an arm to shield his eyes. When he lowered it again, she was gone, like a dream when the morning comes.

Again and again, he walked the shore of the beach, morning and evening, searching for a sign of the morning maiden, but he never so much as glimpsed her.
